After three decades of running including many road races and 11 marathons, I was slowly sinking into what most faithful runners fear as the inevitable — a condition called “old legs”. At first I used spinning as a break — a rest day — from running. However, once I experienced the Shatki workouts, I grew to appreciate the serious calorie burn and post-class ‘high’ I thought only running could deliver. Then came the unexpected boost to my running due to improved leg turnover, strength, endurance, focus and breath control. I started to eat hills for breakfast! Not only has spinning injected new life into these old runner’s legs and allowed me to keep with the 30-somethings, I now have a respectable pair of ‘wheels’ with more years of mini-skirts to come.
